"Born Manufactured is a fountain of formula milk flowing over breathing, moving soft robots. Drawing on the artist’s own journey through reproduction - from IVF and caesarean birth to formula feeding, the work questions the cultures of purity that shape our expectations of reproduction, fertility, and ecology. It expands the boundaries of what we consider “natural” and “normal” in an increasingly engineered world.

Synthetic biology already feeds and nurtures us. Technology is not outside the body but deeply entangled with it, from the food we eat to the textiles we wear. We are already feral species, shaped through intimate relations with science, industry, and technology. Microplastics have been found in breast milk; chemicals circulate in umbilical cord blood; and our bodies exist in constant relation with synthesised landscapes and hybridised species. The boundaries between the organic, artificial, biological and the technological, are already co-evolving.

Born Manufactured asks: who is creating whom? Who is nurturing whom - nature, humans, or technology? And what happens when the boundaries between the natural, the synthetic, and the living can no longer be clearly drawn?"
